EMD Sessions

EMD, or Eye Movement Desensitization, is a component of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a therapeutic approach primarily used to help individuals process and heal from traumatic memories, present day stress, and anxiety. EMD sessions focus specifically on using bilateral stimulation techniques to facilitate the processing of distressing emotions, events or memories without delving deeply into the narrative of the situation itself.

*LIMITED TIME SPECIAL PRICING* $50 or pay what you can. Reach out today for more info and scheduling!

Live. Joyous and Free.

My name is Joy and I have been working as a therapist for the past 9 years. In this time I have worked with those along the entire lifespan. I noticed a common theme. Healing from past experiences and a desire to develop some self acceptance. Having been trained a multiple trauma treatment modalities I was thrilled when I learned about EMDR. It finally felt like there was a pathway to the healing my clients so desired.

In addition to my professional experience I have years of my own life experiences as a single mother to a teen with AuDHD. Due to this and my own ADHD I have focused a lot of my research on supporting those with neurodivergence. I am also a passionate ally o the LGBTQIA+ community and NeuroQueer community. I believe deeply that if we can look at ourselves and how our experiences shaped our stories we can be free from those stories that no longer serve us while simultaneously empowering those stories within us so desperately needing to be told.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapeutic technique designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. During an EMDR session, the client will focus on a distressing memory while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as following the therapist's finger movements with their eyes or listening to alternating tones in headphones. This bilateral stimulation is thought to help the brain reprocess the traumatic memory in a more adaptive way, reducing its emotional intensity and facilitating healing.

EMDR has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of mental health issues, including PTSD, anxiety, phobias, and depression. If you are struggling with the effects of trauma or other mental health concerns, EMDR may be a helpful tool to consider in your healing journey. Contact us today to learn more about how EMDR can support your mental health and well-being.

What is Neurodiversity?

Neurodiversity is a concept that recognizes and celebrates the diverse range of neurological differences in individuals. It challenges the traditional view that neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurodevelopmental conditions, are deviations from the norm and instead embraces them as natural variations in the human brain. At Joyous and Free, we believe in promoting neurodiversity and creating an inclusive environment where individuals of all neurotypes are valued and supported. We understand that each person's unique neurological profile brings its own strengths, challenges, and perspectives to the table. By embracing neurodiversity, we strive to foster acceptance, understanding, and appreciation for the rich tapestry of human cognition and behavior.

Whether you are neurodivergent yourself or seeking to learn more about neurodiversity, Joyous and Free is here to provide resources, support, and advocacy for a more inclusive and accepting world. Join us in celebrating the beauty of neurodiversity and promoting a society where all minds are valued.
